N1 Explained • 2026–27 Inaugural Season
How the New National 1 League Works—and What It Means for Doral West
Doral West’s U13–U17 teams enter the inaugural National 1 season. Here is how league play, standings, qualification and the new ECNL-integrated postseason are designed to work.
How the competition flows
LEAGUE RESULTS. PLAYOFF OPPORTUNITY.
Regular-Season League Play
Doral West teams compete in their Florida N1 divisions. Every result contributes to the official table: three points for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss.
Final Standings
The table determines qualification. Tiebreakers include head-to-head points, wins, goal difference, goals allowed and goals scored.
Conference League Playoffs
Top N1 teams join selected ECNL Regional League qualifiers at one of four regional playoff events in summer 2027.
Conference League Finals
Teams that advance from the regional playoff stage can compete at the new ECNL Conference League Finals.
The 2026–27 season introduces National 1 League, commonly called N1, as a new national competition platform. It brings together two established team-based systems—US Club Soccer’s National Premier Leagues and US Youth Soccer’s National League—under one structure sanctioned and managed by US Club Soccer.
National 1 is organized through eight national conferences and local districts. Florida is identified in the official handbook as Southeast District 2, with Florida Club Leagues operating the competition locally. This structure is intended to preserve meaningful regional league play while connecting successful teams to a national postseason.
For Doral West Soccer Academy, our U13, U14, U15, U16 and U17 teams will compete in N1. The age groups recognized nationally are U13 through U18/19. Each regular-season game directly affects the standings: a win earns three points, a draw earns one and a loss earns zero.
Standings determine postseason qualification. If two teams finish level on points, the official sequence begins with head-to-head points, then total wins, overall goal difference, fewest goals allowed and goals scored. The handbook also provides a separate sequence for ties involving more than two teams.
The postseason is the biggest change for families to understand. Top-performing N1 teams will qualify alongside selected ECNL Regional League teams for the new ECNL Conference League Playoffs in summer 2027. Four regional playoff events have been announced in Dallas, Davis, Greensboro and St. Louis. Qualifying teams can then advance to the ECNL Conference League Finals, whose location is still to be announced.
The exact number of qualifying places assigned to Florida and the specific playoff destination for each qualifier have not yet been published in the national rules. For that reason, Doral West will update this article when official allocations and event assignments are released. What is already confirmed is that league standings matter and the highest-performing teams can earn access to the integrated postseason.
N1 is team-based, which means individual Doral West age groups earn results and postseason opportunities through their own performance. At the club level, the pathway also carries meaning: the official N1 information states that high-performing clubs may be eligible for promotion to ECNL Regional League.
For players, the value goes beyond a new logo. The league creates demanding weekly matches, clearer competitive consequences, stronger accountability and a route from local league play toward regional and national events. For younger Doral West players, it also makes the next step inside the academy easier to see.
Our objective remains player development. Results will matter because they shape the standings and postseason opportunity, but the season must also produce more complete players—better decision-makers, stronger teammates and competitors prepared for the pressure of meaningful matches.
